| Department Mission/Objectives The mission of the department is to prepare students for careers as paralegals. The program teaches practical paralegal skills in conjunction with a liberal arts education. This allows graduates to serve a modern, multi-cultural society with a valuable skill. The mission also includes educating B.S.N. credentialed nurses to become nurse paralegals.
The objectives of the paralegal studies department are to produce extremely competent and well-rounded individuals who will be able to assist an attorney in various areas of the law. These objectives are met through carefully designed academic requirements and extensive academic advising.

Program Specifics The associate’s degree is a two-year program in which the graduate demonstrates the competencies necessary to serve as a qualified paralegal. The four-year bachelor’s degree program provides greater legal breadth, in addition to valuable courses in administrative areas, preparing the graduate to assume greater responsibilities as a paralegal. The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is awarded to students already holding Bachelor's degrees.
